The UK government's Energy Company Obligation (ECO) programme gets a boost with its fourth iteration, ECO4. Launched in 2022 and running until 2026, this initiative tackles fuel poverty and improves home energy efficiency through various energy-saving measures such as:
LOFT INSULATION
CAVITY WALL INSULATION
CAVITY WALL INSULATION
BOILER UPGRADES
Insulation measures such as loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, and solid wall insulation, can often be covered by ECO4 Grants depending on eligibility and property requirements.

Top up existing loft insulation or get a new layer installed to keep the warmth in. GBIS may cover removal of old or unsafe loft insulation too.
Fill the gap between your walls to stop heat escaping. GBIS can also help with removing existing cavity wall insulation if needed.
If you have a converted loft space, GBIS can help insulate the sloping part of your roof for better temperature control.
For solid wall properties (no cavity), GBIS might cover adding insulation to interior walls
to improve heat retention.

& Certifications
Want to know how energy-friendly your home is? Your Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating can tell you! It grades your property from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient), with a higher rating meaning lower energy bills and a smaller environmental footprint. This helps you understand how much energy your home uses and its impact on the planet.
The GBIS scheme helps insulate homes to make them more energy-efficient. Here's what EPC rating you need to qualify:
Private renters: EPC rating of D or E
Homeowners: EPC rating of D, E, F, or G
Properties with EPC ratings of F and G in the private rented sector are not eligible for insulation measures under GBIS.
Homes with EPC ratings of D and E can receive insulation upgrades, but heating control measures won’t be installed.
Remember, GBIS aims to improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and enhance comfort in homes. If your property qualifies, explore the available measures and make your home more energy-efficient.
